How to obtain compensation for the unlawful processing of your data?
If you believe that your medical data has been collected and used, but not according to legal provisions and/or in a disproportionate manner, you can seek compensation from the authority or person that processed your medical information. Your right to seek compensation where there is a violation of your right to private life is stipulated in the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania and in the Law on Legal Protection of Personal Data.
Remember that you can request compensation for the material (financial) loss and/or the moral injury that you have suffered due to the unlawful processing of your medical data.
The procedure for submitting a complaint is different and depends on the status of the person in question, namely, whether it was a public person, a healthcare institution, or a private person.
