The Ombudsperson (in Lithuanian kontrolierė/-ius) is a state institution responsible for safeguarding your human rights in Lithuania. The Ombudsperson is independent of the government, parliament and courts.

- Inspector of Journalist Ethics
- Intelligence Ombudspersons
The Ombudspersons can investigate complaints related to potential human rights violations and determine whether your human rights have been violated. They can also suggest changes in the legal system if they have discovered that certain legal provisions have a negative effect on human rights or good governance.
