Marriage
In Lithuania, marriage establishes a legal freewill relationship between a husband and a wife and creates different rights and obligations for the spouses. Thus, if you choose to marry, your marriage will have social, personal and legal consequences.
Remember that your right to marry is a genuine human right and, therefore, the state should not create obstacles against your freely exercising that right. However, the state is allowed to impose certain restrictions, which are designed to protect important and legitimate interests, for example, public morals. In Lithuania, these restrictions are related to the age, gender and choice of partner and the requirement of monogamy.
